Geraldine blanks Yellow Jackets

Glencoe produced less than 100 yards of total offense and was intercepted six times as Geraldine downed the visiting Yellow Jackets, 14-0, in the first round of the Class 3A state high school football playoffs last Friday (Nov. 9).

The Geraldine defense allowed 47 yards rushing on 22 attempts and 39 yards passing. The Bulldogs intercepted twice as many passes as completions allowed (three).

Jake Boman picked off three passes for the winners, and Michael Davis, Marcus Davis and Jacob Bolin added one apiece.

Boman set up the first score of the game when he picked off a Glencoe pass and returned it 69 yards to the Yellow Jackets’ 7-yard line.

Michael Davis raced into the end zone on the next play for a 7-0 lead with 6:32 left in the third quarter.

Running back Devan Totherow led scoring drive in the fourth period, moving the Bulldogs 65 yards on 10 plays. C.J. Richey got the touchdown from 13 yards out with four minutes remaining.

For Glencoe (5-6), Daniel Otwell rushed 11 times for 32 yards and completed 3-of-18 passes for 39 yards. 

The Bulldogs (9-2) host Lauderdale County in a second-round game on Friday.
