Black Chamber of Commerce awards local businesses

The Northeast Alabama Black Chamber of Commerce honored Black businesses and organizations for their economic and community impacts at its third annual scholarship banquet on October 8.

Kossi and Tanita Amegble, owners of Scoop Du Jour won the Excellent in Black New Business Award. The local creamery has been open on Broad Street for two years, and opened a new location in the Gadsden Mall on October 15.

Community service awards were given to Pastor Steve and Rita Smith of New Destiny Christian Church and Pastor Tymetric and Tanisha Dillon of The People Place Church.

Hall’s Driving School and Quality of Life both won longevity awards.
