Locals recognized in AHSAA Prep Spotlight

Several local players were nominated for the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Prep Football Spotlight for the first round of the state playoffs on November 4.
In Coosa Christian’s 51-8 victory over Hackleburg, senior linebacker Drake Albury finished with 10 tackles (including three for a loss) and two sacks and caused an interception. Senior halfback Jy Mostella (pictured above) rushed 27 times for 207 yards and five touchdowns.
In Gadsden City’s 41-24 victory over Cullman, sophomore quarterback Mathew Sparks was 19 for 25 in passing for 223 yards and four touchdowns. Senior receiver Clyde Curry had nine receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns.
In Southside’s 61-25 loss to Ramsay, Junior quarterback Gauge Nesmith was 23 for 31 in passing for 237 yards and three. Junior receiver Scotty Motes had eight receptions for 103 yards.
