You can’t lose joining a Christian group

About seven weeks ago, I was invited to join a Bible study on Sundays at 1 p.m. Since my husband Alan attends one on Sundays, I decided to join. So far, I’ve been able to attend two sessions out of seven.

My daughter Eva is a big fan of bible studies and has shared many of the things she’s learned. I’ve noticed spiritual growth in every lesson with my little seed from heaven, which influenced my decision to study with a wonderful group of ladies. After the first meeting, which was fun, I found out that Eva was doing the same bible study as we were.

Alan and I watched our grandchildren, Saylor Rhea and Tyler Kate, the next weekend, so I missed the second Bible study. However, I kept up with reading, and I kept up with the study guide when I missed other meetings. Our son Joseph surprised us with a family trip to the pumpkin patch on Sunday. After a while, I was sharing what I learned with anyone who listened, even when I was missing the meetings.

Finally, on the seventh week of the Bible study, Eva called me as I was trying to get caught up. She wanted to know if I wanted to go to Costco with her, and of course, I agreed to. I told her that it was the first week I was not prepared to go to the bible study meeting. She said that I needed to go to the meeting, so I told her I needed to get off the phone and finish my study guide for the week.

I was two minutes late to the Bible study but entered with my work finished. I was so excited at my accomplishment that there might have been a question concerning my sobriety. Every section we covered. I told the group a funny story. I love to make people laugh, and the more they laughed, the more stories I thought of to tell.

Eva called while I was still at the meeting, so I put her on the speaker phone. The other ladies told Eva her how much they liked me. I told Eva that they were lying but she replied that they were not. I love to make people laugh but I love my children to be proud of me more!

In this bible study, I’ve learned more about forgiveness. Of all the mistakes I’ve made, I look at my husband and our children and grandchildren and praise God for having mercy on me and blessing me with more than I ever deserve.

If you get a chance to join a Christian group for bible study, exercise or anything else, I highly recommend it. So many people search for spiritual growth in the wrong things. I was one of those people at one time, and I praise God I am not that person anymore!
