The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation recognized five outgoing members of its Board of Directors for their exceptional leadership, volunteer service and steadfast commitment to advancing educational opportunities for students and communities served by Gadsden State Community College.
Concluding their service after completing two consecutive terms that began in 2020 are Major General Eric Crabtree, Tommie Goggans III, David Hooks, Jonathan Tang and Davis Varner. Throughout their tenure, each board member played a significant role in advancing the Foundation’s mission through committee service, fundraising initiatives, strategic planning and leadership within the organization.
“The Cardinal Foundation has benefited tremendously from the dedication and expertise of these outstanding community leaders,” said Tony Smith, incoming president of the Board of Directors. “Their willingness to give their time, share their talents and champion student success has made a lasting impact on both the Foundation and Gadsden State Community College.”
During a period of growth and opportunity, the outgoing board members helped guide the Foundation’s efforts to expand scholarship opportunities, support academic programs, enhance campus facilities and strengthen partnerships with individuals, businesses and organizations across the region. Their leadership helped ensure resources were available to support students pursuing higher education and workforce training opportunities.
Service on a nonprofit board requires a significant investment of time, energy and expertise. Each of these individuals demonstrated a strong belief in the transformative power of education and a deep commitment to serving students and the community. Whether serving as officers, leading committees, supporting events or providing strategic guidance, they exemplified the Foundation’s core values of service, stewardship and community engagement.
“The success of the Cardinal Foundation is made possible by volunteers who are passionate about investing in the future of our students and our community,” said Hillary Folsom, director of advancement and alumni relations. “We are deeply grateful for the years of dedicated service these members have provided. Their leadership, vision and commitment will continue to benefit Gadsden State students for years to come.”
