Two of the toughest teams around square off in this blockbuster that should be featuring two undefeated Sand Mountain squads.

“I think that they’re better than New Hope,” Sardis coach Gene Hill said. “They let turnovers beat them. They’re definitely the best team we’ll have played so far.

“They’ve got really good skill guys. In fact, they’ve probably got the best running backs we’ll see this year.”

Geraldine relies heavily on the running game, no matter which way the Bulldogs line up.

Geraldine normally runs out of the Wing-T or the Double-Wing but has shown some Power-I this season.

“They’re going to try and pound the ball down your throat from either formation,” Hill said. “They’re extremely physical – and that includes the defense. You can’t find a weak link.”

As for Sardis, Hill still sees improvement each week.

The defense has been his main concern but he now sees that the defenders are running to the ball and are tackling better.

Last week against Douglas, Will Scott threw touchdown passes of 19, 20, 37, 11 and 29 yards. Playing in just the first half, Scott completed 9-of-16 passing for 165 yards.

Keenan Lewis rushed for 66 yards on seven carries, while Braun Pee ran five times for 61 yards.

Austin Hallmark and Logan Hilbrandt each retuned a fumble for a touchdown.

Jesse Hubbard led the Lions in tackles with seven.
