SEC Tournament Review
The LSU Tigers won their 11th SEC Tournament championship after defeating Florida, 2-0, in the championship game on Sunday (May 26). The Gators won the regular sea-son conference title but failed to generate any offense in the championship game last Sunday. Both the Gators and Tigers earned No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament and will host a regional tournament this weekend.
Kentucky was eliminated by Florida on Saturday, 6-5, while Arkansas was eliminated by LSU, 11-1. Ole Miss and Mississippi State both were eliminated on Friday.
NCAA Tournament Preview
Ten teams from the Southeastern Conference made the NCAA Tournament, which is the most ever for a conference. Five of those teams are hosting regional tournaments – SEC Tournament champion LSU, regular season champion Florida, SEC West Division champion Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and South Carolina. Alabama, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Arkansas and Texas A&M also made the tournament.
Each of the 16 regional tournaments consists of four teams. Regionals are double elimination, and the winner of each one advances to the Super Regionals. LSU and Florida both are national seeds, meaning if they win their regional they are guaranteed to host a Super Regional.
