Gadsden City utilized a no-huddle offense to near perfection in a 48-14 win against Class 7A, Region 4 rival Grissom on Friday in Huntsville.

“The first three games we played, we’ve gotten fast starts but we lost focus,” said Gadsden City coach Matt Scott. “That’s one thing we challenged our guys to do tonight is to stay focused. I thought those guys kept their focus pretty good tonight.”

The Titans (4-0, 2-0) scored on each possession in the first half. Quarterback Ahmad DeRamus connected on the first of four touchdown passes to Darnell Moody midway through the first quarter.

Deramus completed 11 of 14 passes to eight different receivers for 279 yards.

“We prepared and practiced real hard,” said Deramus. “That’s what it takes to finish a game. We’ve just got to keep pushing.”

Gadsden City finished with 471 total yards of offense.

After a Grissom (0-3, 0-2) fumble on the ensuing possession, Rodney Bozeman, Jr., rushed for a 12-yard touchdown.

In the last minute of the first quarter, Deramus found Orrin Ragland on a 49-yard touchdown pass. Deramus’ remaining touchdown passes came in the second quarter to Denzel Moody and Jaylon Williams on 32-yards and 41-yards respectively. Bozeman scored his second rushing touchdown as the second quarter ended.

Freshman Tyler Abernathy scored the Titans’ final touchdown on a 6-yard run in the third quarter.

Gadsden City hosts top-ranked Bob Jones next week in another region matchup.
