Auburn Week 7 Review

For the first time in nearly three seasons, Auburn swept a Southeastern Conference opponent, defeating Georgia, 4-2, 5-1 and 4-1 over the weekend to improve to 29-16 overall and 10-11 in conference play. As a result of the sweep, The Tigers have a much better chance of making the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010. AU travels to Columbia this weekend to take on South Carolina.

Alabama Week 7 Review

Alabama lost its weekend series to Ole Miss despite dominating the Re-bels in the series finale. The Rebels won a doubleheader in what was a crucial series for both teams. Alabama dropped to 23-21 overall and 8-13 in league play. The Crimson Tide’s NCAA Tournament chances took a hit, but there’s still plenty of time to improve their record before the postseason. Alabama hosts Arkansas this weekend.

Week 8 Previews and Predictions

Vanderbilt at Kentucky. While LSU is the best team in the conference right now, the Commodores aren’t too far behind. The defending na-tional champions have a two-game lead in the SEC East and likely will finish as a top 10 team. Series Prediction: Vanderbilt 3, Kentucky 0.

Florida at Georgia. The Gators and Bulldogs are trending in completely opposite directions. Florida is rising in the SEC standings and could host a Regional in the NCAA Tournament. As of now, Georgia is on the outside looking in for the SEC Tournament. Series Prediction: Florida 3, Georgia 0.

Ole Miss at Missouri. After a fantastic start to the season, Missouri has regressed slightly over the last few weeks. However, the Tigers are still in good shape for the postseason. Although the series win over Alabama was beneficial for the Rebels, Ole Miss still has plenty of work to do. Series Prediction: Ole Miss 2, Missouri 1.

Auburn at South Carolina. Auburn currently is enjoying its best season in at least five years. The Ti-gers have a losing record in conference play and are in the middle of the pack in the SEC, but AU is starting to peak at the right time. Series Prediction: Auburn 2, South Carolina 1.

LSU at Mississippi State. Not only is LSU the best team in the SEC, the Tigers probably are the best team in the country right now. The Baton Rouge squad is rolling through the SEC, which is especially impressive considering that the SEC is the best conference in college baseball. LSU will be one of the top overall seeds in the SEC Tournament. Series Prediction: LSU 3, Mississippi State 0.

Texas A&M at Tennessee. The Aggies lost their road series at LSU last weekend but remain among the best teams in college baseball. Tennessee has been at the bottom of the SEC standings all season, and the Aggies have a great chance of sweeping the Volunteers this weekend. Series Prediction: Texas A&M 3, Tennessee 0.

Arkansas at Alabama. With just three weeks to go in the regular season, every series is vital for Alabama’s postseason chances. The Tide must avoid a sweep, and it certainly would be beneficial if they could win the series this weekend in Tuscaloosa. Series Prediction: Arkansas 2, Alabama 1.
