Area trio finish runner-up in 5K races

A trio of local runners finished second in cross country action last Saturday (Sept.18).
At the Raider Invitational at Pleasant Valley High School, Gadsden City’s Tanner Rice was runner-up out of 121 competitors in the boys’ race with a time of 17:32.08. The Titans finished fourth out of 11 teams. Gadsden City’s Mithun Rameshkumar came in ninth at 19:10.53, while Sardis’ Blade Devin placed 13th at 19:38.94. Dhruv Patel helped the GCHS cause with a 20th place time of 20:08.79.
In the girls’ event, Sardis High’s Barit Snead (pictured above) clocked in at 22:33.56 to place second out of 80 runners. Gadsden City’s Hannah Griffin finished 13th at 25:41.77.
Southside’s Luke Holcombe finished runner-up in the boys Blue Division at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville with a time of 16:15.91.
