Gadsden’s First Friday returns Aug. 2

Downtown Gadsden will host First Friday on August 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. Residents and visitors can explore Broad Street and beyond for dining, shopping, classic cars, live music and the arts.

Broad Street will be closed to traffic at 4 p.m. to allow classic cars, live music and food vendors to set up.

Entertainment will include Comic Mischief at 2nd and Broad, Gospel Truth at 3rd and Broad, Tad of Jazz at 4th and Broad, The Wheelers at 5th and Broad and the Gadsden City High School Band in the 600 block of Broad Street.

“We anticipate a great crowd for August’s First Friday, and we’d like to remind those in attendance to watch the weather and drink plenty of water while they enjoy being downtown and supporting our local businesses,” said Downtown Gadsden Inc. Executive Director Kay Moore. “Also be mindful of classic cars that may need to leave early.”

Attendees are invited to visit the Gadsden Museum of Art and the Center for Cultural Arts to view the exhibits on display.

The guidelines for First Friday include no pets, no personal coolers or glass containers, no skateboards or roller blades and no advertising or fundraising. Additional parking is available at Foote Brothers Carpet One located at 2nd and Locust Streets.

Following First Friday, the Summer Concert series will continue at The Amp, with Rubik’s Groove playing 80s, 90s, and 2000s rock music. Both events are free to attend.
