Ashville opens season with win over St. Clair County

Ashville won its opening game of the season for the ninth straight year with a 26-21 victory over St. Clair County on August 18 at Kin Logan Stadium.
With the game tied 14-14 early in the fourth quarter, senior kicker Greyson Simpson connected on a 48-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs the lead. Fellow senior Eli Reeves later provided the winning points via a 35-yard touchdown run.
Travis Smith paced the Ashville offense with 136 rushing yards and a touchdown on 31 carries. Jalen Williams carried 16 times for 68 yards, while Reeves finished with 64 yards on six attempts.
Ashton Mostella led the way defensively with 10 tackles, followed by Smith with eight and Simpson and Jaden Harris with seven each.
The Bulldogs host Lincoln on Friday, August 26.
