Cardinal Athletic Camps begin in June


 The Gadsden State Community College Cardinals Athletic Department will host the following camps this summer for basketball, volleyball, and softball: June 1-2, Jr. Varsity Boys Basketball Team Camp ($300 per team); June 3-4, Varsity Boys Basketball Team Camp ($400 per team); June 8-9, Varsity Boys Basketball Camp ($400 per team); June 10 & 11, Girls Basketball Middle School Play Dates ($100 per team/per day); June 15, 16, 24 & 25, Varsity Girls Basketball Play Dates ($150 per team/per day); and June 29 & 30, Jr. Varsity Girls Basketball Play Dates ($150 per team/per day).

All camps will be held at Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden.  The boys’ varsity and junior varsity camps will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The girls’ varsity, junior varsity, and middle school camps will begin at 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Cardinal basketball coaches Todd Ginn (boys) and John Butts (girls) will conduct the camps.

Tentative volleyball camp dates have been scheduled as follows: July 15 & 29, Varsity Play dates ($100 per team); July 13-14, Jr. High/JV Team Camp ($100 per team); and July 27-28, Individual Camp ($50 per player).

Volleyball team camps are open to middle school, junior varsity or varsity players but for scheduling purposes those interested in participating must contact Coach Angie Sanders at 256-390-3565 by July 1. Individual and team camps will meet at Gadsden State’s Beck Field House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Varsity play dates will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Girls softball camps will be held July 16, July 23, and July 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the GSCC Softball complex.  Cost is $30 per player and the camps are for 2016 – 2019 high school graduates.  The camp will be conducted by Coach Shane Sanderson and each session is limited to 30 players.
