A book launch and signing will be held at 2 p.m. at the Alabama City branch of the Gadsden Public Library. Alabama City: A Town Built with Cotton and Steel by Alabama City native Jane Mitchell will be on sale for $18.
GPL and OLLI Sports Club will be at Gadsden Public Library starting at 10 a.m. in the computer classroom. Enjoy a lively discussion about football, basketball, baseball and just about every other sport known to man.
Mental Health America of Etowah County will host Stress and Anger Management and Domestic Violence Prevention classes at the Gadsden Public Library. Stress and Anger Management will be held at 12 p.m. in the computer classroom and at 6 p.m. in the Lena Martin Room. Domestic Violence Prevention will be held at 1 p.m. in the computer classroom and at 5 p.m. in the Lena Martin Room.
Zumba for all ages and all skill levels at the Southside Community Center located at 2142 AL-77. The class starts at 6 p.m. and is $5.

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will have their Smarter Seniors workshop in the Etowah County Courthouse Community Meeting Room #205 at 10:00 a.m. The topic of this workshop is “Exercising to Stay Active”. The speaker will be Aaron Gilbreath from 365 Fitness. This is a free workshop geared towards senior citizens, but anyone may attend. Reimagining School Readiness at the East Gadsden Branch of GPL located at 809 East Broad St. 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Story Time (pre-k – 1st grade) and 3 – 4 p.m. STEM programs (2nd – 5th grade). Local blood drive at Gadsden Mall- Premiere Cinemas from 1 – 6 p.m. The American Red Cross is teaming up with Warner Brothers for the theatrical release of Meg 2: The Trench to celebrate a summer of sharks and help stave off a summer blood and platelet shortage. All who come to give through August 12 will be automatically entered for a chance to win a three-night New York getaway for two with a private shark dive adventure at Long Island Aquarium. Those who come to give throughout the month of August will also get a $10 e-gift card to a movie merchant of their choice. Details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Movie.

Church of the Holy Comforter will be hosting OLLI Fall Open House at 2 – 4 p.m. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at The University of Alabama provides a wide variety of intellectually stimulating non-credit courses and learning opportunities designed for adults 50 and older. OLLI offers weekly courses, lecture series, field trips, social gatherings and volunteer opportunities.
