The Darden Rehabilitation Foundation’s 2023 Bass Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 at the City of Gadsden Docks Coosa Landing from safe light until 2 p.m. Entry fee is $100 per boat with weigh-in taking place under the bridge. First-place prize is $2,000, second place is $1,000 and third place is $500. Fourth through 10th place finishers will receive $100 each, while the Biggest Fish prize is $500. Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 1885 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, will host a rummage sale from 9 to 11 a.m. Visitors should look for the A-frame church across from the Gadsden Country Club Golf Course. Items will be priced from 10 cents to best offers.

The Rainbow City Public Library will hold Lego Club from 3 – 4 p.m. The program is for children ages four and up. Lego Club meets the first Monday of each month and Lego pieces are provided. The Greater Gadsden Greeters, a women’s social club, will hold its monthly luncheon on Thursday, October 5 at Rainbow Presbyterian Church located at 3220 Rainbow Drive in Rainbow City. The Hokes Bluff Library Foundation will host Booking It Through the Bend Metric Century race at the Hokes Bluff City Park located at 5981 Gilliland Street in Hokes Bluff. From the creators of “Booking It Through the Bluff Triathlon and 10K,” Hokes Bluff Library Foundation invites everyone to join them for Booking It Through the Bend Metric Century. Booking It Through the Bend will offer three options for mileage with 14 miles, 23 miles and a metric century road course all starting and ending at the Hokes Bluff Community Center. All proceeds benefit the Hokes Bluff Library Foundation. Theatre of Gadsden will perform Anne of Green Gables at the historic Ritz Theatre located at 310 North 27th Street in Gadsden. There will be a showing at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on October 7 and at 2 p.m. on October 8. Tickets for adults cost $10, tickets for seniors, military members and students are $8. The Northeast Alabama Genealogic Society will meet Saturday, October 14 at 10 a.m. at Nichols Memorial Library located at the corner of Dwight and Cabot Avenues in Gadsden.  The program will be presented by Ms. Sharon Ingle, whose topic will be “The Story of Howard Wallace, Alabama Outlaw.” Anyone interested is invited to attend. The Greater Gadsden Housing Authority will hold a Blacklight Bingo Fundraiser from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at The Venue at Coosa Landing. Early birds at 5:30 p.m. Advance tickets cost $25 and tickets at the door cost $30. There will be a $500 jackpot up for grabs. Tables are available for $225, or become an event sponsor for $500 and have a table included in your sponsorship. The event raises money for ESTEEM honor roll program. Nichols Memorial Library, located at the corner of Dwight and Cabot Avenues in Alabama City, is open every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for family and history research. As the home of the Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society, the library contains genealogical information and family files from all areas of Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and other states. The library contains a large collection of military records and Native American research books. On the first and third Thursday of the month from 9 to 10 a.m., Kathy Burttram presents a class on researching family history using Ancestry, Family Search, ThruLines, Wiki and other sources.
