With murderers’ row in the rear view mirror, Coosa Christian High now finds itself facing some winning football games.

The Conquerors started out the year with six very tough Class 1A, Region 7 games but now have the luxury of four easier ones to finish out the season.

“We’ve improved each week,” Coosa coach Scott Clifton said. “We just can’t seem to stop shooting ourselves in the foot.”

Last week, the Conquerors made enough miscues to turn what could have been a close game into the blowout. And that has been the trend all season.

Now comes Shades Mountain Christian from the Hoover area.

“They’ve got a big offensive line with a couple of good backs,” Clifton said. “On defense, we’ve got to watch their linebackers. They run a 3-5-3 defense, so the linebackers are active.”
