Voters in Etowah and St. Clair counties will go to the polls again Dec. 11 to decide who will fill former Alabama State Representative Blaine Galliher’s seat and represent the people of District 30.

Republican Mack Butler faces Democrat Beth McGlaughn in the race.

Butler, from Rainbow City, has served on the Etowah County Board of Education and is the owner of Butler Electric.

McGlaughn, of Southside, is an attorney in practice with her husband, Jim McGlaughn. This is her first bid for elected office.

The District 30 seat was left vacant when Gov. Robert Bentley appointed Galliher to  his cabinet as legislative liaison.

District 30 includes part of Etowah County and St. Clair County. As with all elections, polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
