Etowah, Glencoe post region wins

Etowah posted a 53-7 victory over Columbia in a Class 5A, Region 7 game on Friday (Sept. 20) in Attalla. 

For the Blue Devils (4-0, 3-0), Paul Ruiz rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns and ran back a kickoff return 87 yards for a touchdown.

Kordell Rudolph passed for a touchdown and ran for another, while Stacy Williams ran for a score. Jordan Powell and Lamar Thomas each caught a touchdown pass.

Etowah takes a break from region play this week with a visit to Lincoln on Friday.

Dylan Stone threw for one touchdown and ran for another in Glencoe’s 24-12 win over Class 3A, Region 5 rival White Plains last Friday (Sept. 20) in Anniston.

Stone threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Houston Word and scored on a 25-yard scamper.

Also for the the Yellow Jackets (2-2, 1-2), Taylor Daugherty rushed for a touchdown and Joseph Bright kicked a 22-yard field goal. 

Glencoe hosts Etowah County neighbor Hokes Bluff on Friday in non-region action.
