From God’s word – Our creator, designer and planner

Lately, things I’ve been walking through personally have led me to ponder and reflect upon the vastness and magnitude of our Lord.

One place I always sense the magnitude of God is when I am standing on the beach and looking out at the ocean. When I take the time to reflect on these attributes of God, it changes my perspective concerning my current issues and problems. All of a sudden, my problems, which once seemed huge and never-ending, begin to appear much smaller in comparison to my Lord and who He is. This perspective also helps me see the “big picture” of life rather than only what is in front of me at the time.

In his devotional The Book of Mysteries, Jonathan Cahn describes this thought beautifully when he writes, “Two thousand years ago, our Messiah said, ‘I am the Light of the World.’ Since that time, ages have begun and ended, continents and civilizations have been discovered, kingdoms and empires have risen and fallen, and kings and luminaries have appeared and passed away. And for a moment, some of these seemed larger. For a time, they obscured the figure of the Nazarene. But in the long run over the course of the long journey, they’ve all passed away. Everything has changed…. except Him. All the rest lies in ruins and rubble or in the pages of history…. but He remains unchanged, undiminished….as central, as pivotal, and as colossal as He has ever been. Everything changes but Him. He is the sun. The immensity of His magnitude…is manifested by His changelessness.”

These Scriptures below speak to God’s magnitude and His consistent and unchanging nature. I encourage you to read slowly and soak in the greatness of the God you serve.
Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus, the Anointed One, is always the same – yesterday, today, and forever.” Our God never changes! Regardless of changes in the past, present and the days and years to come, one thing we can be sure of is that our God will always remain the same. When people change and when things in our world change, we can count on our God to remain constant, steady, dependable and reliable at all times. That thought alone brings me such peace and hope for my future! Jesus is not influenced by others and He is not fearful of the unknowns in this world. Instead, He remains unchanged and undiminished.

John 8:12: “Then Jesus said, ‘I am light to the world and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will never walk in darkness.” Jesus is light as well as the one who issues in life. The world lies in darkness and death because it has rebelled against God and thus broken contact with the one source of light and life. Jesus is the only one who can bring light and life back to this world. His life-giving light is available to anyone who is willing to embrace Him, accept Him and allow Him to enter their lives.

Isaiah 40:28: “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.” This has always been one of my “go to” verses when I need to be strengthened in my faith or when I am in need of a bit of encouragement. Isaiah describes God as everlasting (God will never go away or be defeated) and the Creator, the designer, the planner, the One who brought this earth and everything on it into existence! Even after creating all of us and the animals and ruling over this earth, God still does not grow weary or tired, He will never give up on us or just quit. As a result, it would only make sense that His understanding is unsearchable. When I sit and meditate on this verse, I realize my understanding of the vastness of my God is very small. Yet, I am so thankful for His promises of faithfulness to me.

Psalm 146:6: “He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them; he remains faithful forever.” May we never forget that God alone is the maker of heaven and earth. This earth did not just make itself – God is the creator, the designer and the planner. God alone holds it all into place, and one day He will return to gather His children and create a new heaven and new earth! Until that time, He remains faithful to you and to me. As Jonathan Cahn describes, “God remains unchanged and undiminished. All praise to our God and King!”

Lord, today we celebrate the magnificent and holy God that You are! Thank You for being unchanged and undiminished, for being the One in whom we can firmly place our trust, both now and forever. Help us keep our eyes on You, and thank You for the great and mighty God that You are!
