Gadsden Beautification Board honors award recipients at banquet

The Gadsden Beautification Board held its annual banquet July 6, to honor the recipients of the Gadsden Beautification Awards.
This year’s banquet included special recognition to the previous year’s winners, as the award ceremony event for last year was postponed due to COVID-19.
Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford was in attendance to present the Mayor’s Award. This year, Life Insurance Company of Alabama located at 302 Broad Street won the coveted award from the mayor’s office.
The award recipients and their categories are as follows:
* District 1: Mary G. Bruce, 1115 Windsor Street; residential and Melvin Crook, 1002 Hoke Street, residential senior.
* District 2: Glenn and Katrina King, 275 Boyd Drive, residential and Family Success Center, 822 East Broad Street, commercial.
* District 3: Matilda Pearson, 727 Brookside Drive, residential; May Johnson, 919 Avenue East, senior residential; and Back 40 Brewery, 200 North 6th Street, commercial.
• District 4: Ray Macon, 919 Crown Point Avenue, residential; Haley and Will Carn, 201 Lakewood Drive, residential renovation; Dorothy Robinson, 712 Crestview Drive, senior residential; Hampton Inn, 129 River Road, commercial; and Eura Brown Elementary, 1231 Alcott Road, school.
• District 5: Linda Micale, 419 Turrentine Avenue, residential; Phillip Williams, 436 Haralson Avenue, residential renovation; and Walnut Gallery, 806 Walnut Street, restoration.
• District 6: Brian Green, 306 South 25th Street, residential; and Tracey and Michelle Love 3008 Samson Avenue, residential senior.
• District 7: Jeff and Teresa Philips, 530 Noccalula Drive, residential; Faye Graves, 2704 Hilltop Circle, residential senior; and Nichols Library, 1 Cabot Avenue, commercial.
• Honorary Award: Shirley and Al Smith, District 5, 220 Claremont Drive.
