Gadsden City comes up short to Sparkman

Gadsden City fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in Class 7A, Region 7 play after a 51-27 loss to Sparkman last Friday (Sept. 6) in Harvest.
Sparkman rolled up 31 consecutive points to erase a one-point halftime deficit.
C.J. Miller scored the Titan’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run. DeMarcus Macon completed touchdown passes of 13 and 10 yards to Jakari Embrey in the second quarter after the GCHS recovered a pair of turnovers, giving Gadsden City a 21-20 halftime lead.
Late in the fourth quarter, Macon connected with Embrey on an 84-yard touchdown strike.
Sparkman had 444 total yards offense, but gave up 341. Senators quarterback Nicholas Sawyer rushed for two scores and completed two touchdown passes to Cameron Foley. Other Sparkman scores came on a 5-yard run by backup quarterback Lukas Schomburg and a 27-yard field goal by Miles Tillman.
Gadsden City continues region play this Friday (Sept. 13) with a visit to Austin in Decatur.
