Focus is a big word this week.

Even though it’s Piedmont this week, Glencoe coach Lee Ozmint is trying to get his players to focus on Glencoe.

“We’ve got to prepare for this game just like any other game,” he said. “We can’t do anything about the schedule.”

And not just in practice.

“We’ve to go focus on every play,” Ozmint said. “If we take care of ourselves, good things will happen.”

When he looks at Piedmont, Ozmint sees a fast and physical team.

“C.J. Savage may be the fastest kid in 3A,” the coach said. “He can flat outrun anybody.”

Quarterback Tyler Lusk is a good decision maker, according to Ozmint.

The two teams are tied at the top of the Class 3A Region 6 standings, so this game will go a long way in determining possible playoff seeding down the road. The Yellow Jackets’ last win over Piedmont came in 2005.

“It’ll be a big challenge, just like every year,” Ozmint said. “But I’m so proud of this team for focusing on what they need to focus on. They broke the mold, and I tell them that a lot.”

Last week against Westbrook, Thomas Ozmint rushed for 244 yards and four touchdowns. Dylan Stone added 144 yards on 17 attempts. Mason Brown had 10 tackles, followed by Evan Foreman and Grant Griffin with seven each.
