Hester huge in Gaston win over Asbury

Josh Hester turned in a career performance on August 19 at Shinbone Ridge.
The Gaston High junior running back/linebacker finished with 478 all-purpose yards and scored 36 points in Gaston’s 63-26 victory over Asbury. It was the program’s first non-forfeit victory since Week 1 of the 2020 season.
Hester (pictured above) rushed for 399 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, ran in three 2-point conversion attempts and returned two kickoffs for 79 yards, including one for a touchdown. On defense, he had eight tackles and a sack.
Also for the Bulldogs, Kobe Harris rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries,
while Joel Hester gained 20 yards and a pair of touchdowns on six carries.
Joel Hester had six tackles, followed by Kodie Bogle and Nemo Samples with five each. Harris had two forced fumbles.
