Alabama Week 7 Review

Alabama dropped two of three games at home against Mississippi State over the weekend. The Bulldogs rocked the Crimson Tide’s pitching in the series opener en route to a 12-5 victory, and the two teams split a doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 30). UA dropped to 25-20 overall and 10-11 in league play. Alabama hosts Auburn this weekend (May 6-8) in Tuscaloosa.

Auburn Week 7 Review

The Tigers won a home series over Kentucky last weekend, and in the process put themselves back in position to potentially make the SEC Tournament. The Wildcats won the series finale 9-6 to avoid the sweep, but the Tigers scored 15 runs in the first two games to pick up a pair of crucial wins. Auburn improved to 20-24 overall and 7-14 in conference play. The Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama this weekend.

Week 8 Previews and Predictions

Auburn at Alabama. Auburn defeated Alabama earlier in the season, but it was a game that didn’t count towards the conference standings. The Crimson Tide have been a much better team since that game and they have a three-game lead on the Tigers entering this weekend. Both teams have seen resurgence in the hitting game lately, but consistency has plagued both UA and AU throughout this season. This is a pivotal series for these in-state rivals, and bragging rights certainly are stake. Series Prediction: Alabama 2, Auburn 1.

Florida at Tennessee. The Gators split a pair of games against South Carolina last weekend – the final game was cancelled due to bad weather – but the first two games of the series indicated that as of right now those are the best two teams in the SEC. Missouri, on the other hand, swept Tennessee, and the Vols are now in last place in the league. Series Prediction: Florida 3, Tennessee 0.

South Carolina at Kentucky. Kentucky’s series loss at Auburn was a bit surprising considering how well the Wildcats have played this year, but they have a chance to make amends this weekend against the Gamecocks. South Carolina remains in first place in the conference and is playing as well as anyone in the country. Series Prediction: South Carolina 3, Kentucky 0.

Ole Miss at Georgia. Ole Miss is another team that has been hot of late, and the Rebels just took a home series over LSU over the weekend. Mississippi is now only two games behind Texas A&M in the SEC West Division and should be able to take this series against the stru-ggling Bulldogs. Series Prediction: Ole Miss 2, Georgia 1.

Vanderbilt at Texas A&M. Two of the best teams in both the conference and the country square off this weekend in College Station. The teams have nearly identical records and are just behind Florida and South Caro-lina in the SEC standings. The Aggies are 25-2 at home this season. Series Prediction: Texas A&M 2, Vanderbilt 1.

Missouri at Mississippi State. Missouri is right back in the SEC Tournament picture after sweeping Tennessee but has a very difficult road trip this weekend. Mississippi State has one of the best home field advantages in college baseball, and the Bulldogs are looking to challenge Texas A&M for the West Division crown. Series Prediction: Mississippi State 3, Missouri 0.

Arkansas at LSU. While LSU dropped another series last weekend, the Tigers are still within striking distance in the SEC standings. Arkansas is in dire need of victories, however, and need them as quickly as possible. The Razorbacks are tied with three other teams at 7-14 in the SEC, which is only one game out of last place in the league. Series Prediction: LSU 2, Arkansas 1.
