Inspiration from God’s Word – The beauty of our Lord’s magnitude

By Toni Ford

Lately I have been thinking about the vastness and magnitude of our Lord, and how this attribute along with His consistent character never changes. I have been learning that as I reflect on these things, it changes my perspective concerning my current issues and problems. All of a sudden, my problems, which once seemed huge and never ending begin to appear much smaller in comparison to my Lord and who He is. This perspective also gives me a big picture view to life rather than seeing life based off of what is only in front of me at the time.

Jonathan Cahn, in his devotional book, The Book of Mysteries, describes this thought beautifully when he wrote, “Two thousand years ago, our Messiah said, ‘I am the Light of the World.’

Since that time, ages have begun and ended, continents and civilizations have been discovered, kingdoms and empires have risen and fallen, kings and luminaries have appeared and passed away. And some of these have for a moment, seemed larger. For a time, they obscured the figure of the Nazarene. But in the long run, over the course of the long journey, they’ve all passed away. Everything has changed…except Him. All the rest lies in ruins and rubble or in the pages of history…but He remains unchanged, undiminished….as central, as pivotal, and as colossal as He has ever been. Everything changes but Him. He is the sun. And the immensity of His magnitude…is manifested by His changelessness.”

Two scriptures readings come to mind when I read those words:

Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus, the Anointed One, is always the same – yesterday, today, and forever.” Our God NEVER changes! Regardless of changes in the past, present, and even in the days/years to come, one thing we can be sure of is that our God will always remain the same. When people change and when things in our world change, we can count on our God to remain constant, steady, dependable, and reliable at all times. That thought alone brings me such peace and hope for my future! Jesus is not influenced by others, He is not fearful of the unknowns in this world but instead He remains unchanged and undiminished.

John 8:12 – “Then Jesus said, ‘I am light to the world and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will never walk in darkness.” Jesus is light as well as the one who issues in life. The world lies in darkness and death because it has rebelled against God and thus broken contact with the one source of light and life. Jesus is the only one that can bring light and life back to this world. His life-giving light is available to anyone who is willing to embrace Him, accept Him, and allow Him to enter their lives.

Today, Lord we celebrate the magnificent, holy, God that you are! We celebrate and worship You, alone! Lord, may we walk in Your light daily and keep our perspective of life centered around You! Thank you for your promises and your faithfulness to me.
