Local players recognized by ASWA

Five area players were recognized in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Prep Spotlight for Week 6 of the 2015 high school football season.

West End senior quarterback Hunter Grant finished with 405 combined yards and six touchdowns in the Patriots’ 48-12 win over Ider. Grant rushed 11 times for 125 yards and one touchdown and was 14-of-18 passing for 280 yards and five touchdowns, three of them to Dustin Goodwin.

Southside senior running back Alaric Williams rushed 15 times for 170 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown run, and caught one pass for 65 yards in the Panthers’ 24-21 win over Albertville.

Etowah senior running back Stacy Williams rushed 26 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 21-20 loss to Guntersville.

Sardis senior quarterback Logan Gaskin was 7-of-16 passing for 234 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ 21-19 victory over White Plains.

Sardis senior receiver Austin Hallmark finished with four catches for 136 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown catch, in the Lions’ 21-19 victory over White Plains.
