Local runners compete in indoor meet

Several area runners competed in the AHSAA Class 1A-5A Holiday Invitational indoor track meet on Dec. 13 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The lone local medalist was Ashville’s Wyatt Knight, who took third place in the boys 3200-meter run with a time of 10:41.14.
The Ashville girls’ 4×800 meter relay team of Kathleen McCarthy (pictured above, second from right), Callie Stewart, Emma Thompson and Emma Drinkard finished fourth with a time of 11:15.15.
Taylor Knight came in ninth (13:12.61) and 11th (5:59.68), respectively, in the girls 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs.
In other top 25 action, Ashville’s Wyatt Knight clocked in 11th place (4:57.29) in the boys 1600-meter run, Ashville’s Clayton Knight came in 16th (11:24.89) in the boys 3200-meter run,
Ashville’s Kathleen McCarthy finished 17th (6:14.26) in the girls 1600-meter run, Westbrook Christian’s Asher Curp took 18th place (11:35.48) in the boys 3200-meter run and Westbrook’s Jackson Martin came in 25th (5:14.22) in the boys 1600-meter run.
