Still looking for a victory, West End High is now looking for some relief.

“This region is so good that you can’t get a breather,” Patriots coach Randy Hallmark said. “Every week, it’s another good team, and we’re still trying to learn how to play football.”

And here comes Sand Rock, a team that Hallmark said could easily be 5-0 in Region 7 of Class 2A.

“They spread the ball out, throwing it all over the place, then burn you with the run if you concentrate on stopping the pass,” Hallmark said. “They’ve got two good running backs who will get their yards.”

With not enough players to do any substituting, Hallmark is still tracking that first win.

“We have to play a perfect game in order to even stay in the game until the fourth quarter,” he said. “If we make a mistake, the other team takes advantage.”

Last week against Section, Caegan Epperson ran for a touchdown, while Rhett Lister returned a blocked punt for a score.
