People of Etowah: Tyler Harrell

FacebookGoogle+TwitterLinkedIn

Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky but raised in Gadsden .

What is your occupation?

I’m an insurance agent.

What made you decide to work in your field?

I’ve always had a heart for helping people. Insurance may be a odd industry when you think of helping people but most of the time when people need your services something has gone wrong for them.

Tell us about your family and pets.

My parents are J.T. Harrell and Trish Harrell they both have lived and worked in the Gadsden area for over 20 years. They both have worked mostly in the music field. I have a younger sister named Anna Morgan Harrell, who works at Gadsden Regional Hospital.

What school or schools have you attended?

I’ve attended Eura Brown Elementary,  Gadsden Middle School and Gadsden High.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to exercise and hangout with friends and family and I love going to sporting events.

Name the one person that has been the most influential in your life. Why?

Kelvin Rice. He was my first manger in the insurance business and not only taught me about insurance but also how to be successful in life. He taught me about doing the little things each day and how much those things make a difference.

To what do you credit your success?

Working smarter, not harder. Any person or business can always work hard, but not all work smart. So daily, monthly, and yearly review sessions are key factors in determining success in your personal life as well as business.

Are you involved in any service organizations?

Not at the moment, but since I have moved back getting involved in the community has been on the top of my list.

What is your favorite thing about this community?

Simplicity.

What would you like to see change in the community?

Growth. We live in a place that is very stuck in their ways, which means people are comfortable and that is a good thing. But to achieve growth you have to go through change and change makes people very uncomfortable. I think Etowah County has a lot of untapped potential and growth opportunities. We just need to be willing to get out if comfort zone when those opportunities arrive.

What is something surprising that many do not know about you?

I’m into health and exercise.

What is your favorite quote?

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”

What is on your bucket list?

I want to visit all 30 MLB stadiums.

What is your hidden talent?

I’m actually a pretty good cook.

If a movie were made about your life, who would you want to play you?

Kevin Costner.

What advice would you give yourself as a child?

Live in the moment.
