Runners and walkers in the Etowah County area are invited to help raise money for the Etowah County Cancer Foundation by participating in the Physicians Who Care 5K Run/1 Mile Walk Saturday (April 27).
For children, there is a Kids Run Free event, in conjunction with the YMCA.
The run offers first, second and third place prizes for the top three male and female runners, and trophies for the top three male and female finishers in all age divisions.
Registration fee is $20, with a $2 discount for members of the GRC and the ARC.
Proceeds from the run will go the cancer foundation, which helps to support local residents going through cancer treatment.
Runners will be provided with a tag to wear during the race, in memory or in honor of someone who has or is currently fighting cancer.
Race Day registration will be from 8 to 9 a.m. at The Chamber, at 1 Commerce Square, directly across from the YMCA and one mile north of the intersection of Interstate 759 and U.S. 411. The race will begin at 9 a.m.
