 It’s already time to begin planning for the Annual Christmas Parade.
    The Kiwanis Club of Gadsden is the sponsor and we are looking forward to another great parade. In order to make this a success, the Kiwanis would like to have you and/or your group to participate in this parade.
  The theme of this year’s parade is “Christmas Around the World.”
    The parade is set for Dec. 9, 2013.  We have new entry fees this year so we hope everyone will have a float.
    Entry fees are:
   Commercial – non float –  $50; float – $25;
   Non commercial, individual  -non float –  $25,    float – no fee;
    Bands -no fee.
    A float is defined as: 1 – anything that is not a land based self-propelled vehicle and must be pulled by another vehicle, 2 – Decorations must be based on the parade theme and must include lights and/or sounds.
    The parade will form at the Etowah County Courthouse on Ninth Street and Forrest Avenue and proceed down Broad Street.  The parade will turn right on First, disbanding after the entry passes Walnut Street.
    Please pay special attention to the staging area map when you receive it and make sure all the members of your group know where to line up.
    There will be a float competition; however there will be no competition for the bands.
    The Kiwanis would like as many groups as possible to enter a float.  The competition will be divided into two divisions based on the entry category — commercial division, and non-commercial division. Each division will be awarded a first, second and third place prize. In addition, there will be a cash prize for the best non-float, non-band entry.  The entries will be judged on the theme, and the sights and sounds of the season.
    All entries must be decorated with lights, music and physical decoration.  Individuals must have something in addition to just a car, something that will excite the spectators.  This parade is for the children so we want all entries decorated with lights, sounds and physical decorations.
    Organizers also would like as many entries as possible to have floats that use the theme to make the parade exciting for the spectators. The Kiwanis thank each of you in advance and hope you use your imagination to make this a fantastic parade for our spectators.
     Please call Glenda Selman at 256-569-8420 for more details, forms, and payment information If you leave a message, please give your name, group and phone number so we can get back to you as soon as possible.
