Etowah fell to Pleasant Grove, 40-0, in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs on Friday (Nov. 8) at PGHS.

“We knew they had a great team when we saw them on film,” said Etowah coach Drew Noles. “[I’ve] been coaching a long time, and we know by now a great team when we see one. They have got athletes all over, their quarterback can run the football well and their defensive line is also very good. They just manhandled us tonight.”

Pleasant Grove (10-1) led 14-0 after one quarter and 22-0 at the half. The Blue Devils (7-4) managed just one first down and 15 total yards before intermission. Etowah finished with 41 total yards and three first downs. The Blue Devils also were penalized for 50 yards.
