Prime Healthcare Services announced earlier this week that it has completed its acquisition of Riverview Regional Medical Center and its related outpatient services.

“Prime Healthcare looks forward to continuing the extraordinary care at Riverview Regional,” said Prem Reddy, MD, FACC, FCCP, Chairman, President and CEO of Prime Healthcare Services. “We plan to support the hard work and dedication of the physicians, nurses and employees in their mission to provide quality healthcare in their communities.”

Over a 3-year period, Prime Healthcare will invest at least $15 million in capital expenditures at Riverview to fund equipment, development of new services, physician recruitment and other capital improvements.

Thomas Roddy has been appointed as Riverview Regional Medical Center’s Administrator and Chief Executive Officer. Roddy previously served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Riverview Regional.

During his tenure as COO, the hospital was ranked number two among hospitals in Alabama, according to the 2014-2015 U.S News and World Report Best Hospital Rankings.

“Riverview Regional has a long-standing tradition of serving the community with high-quality healthcare services,” said Roddy. “We are pleased that Prime Healthcare recognizes our opportunities for continued growth and success to better serve Etowah and surrounding counties.”

Riverview Regional Medical Center is a 281-bed acute-care hospital serving more than 350,000 residents in Etowah and the contiguous counties. A full range of services and programs are offered, including an Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy Lab, Heartburn Treatment Center, Imaging Center, Sleep Lab, and Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center. Riverview Regional is also accredited by the Joint Commission. The Sisters of the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity originally founded Riverview in 1926. Riverview will be Prime Healthcare’s first facility in Alabama and will have the support of Prime facilities in nearby states.

“We are pleased to welcome this facility into the Prime Healthcare family,” said Luis Leon, President of Operations for Prime Healthcare. “As Prime’s numerous awards and accolades show, we will be able to provide top-quality management expertise and clinical support, allowing Riverview to thrive and continue to be a valuable community asset.”
