Sardis’ Pee highlights all-county football team

Sardis High’s Toby Pee recently was selected as overall MVP of the 2012 All-Etowah County Schools football team.

The Lions’ senior running back rushed for 1,829 yards and 31 TDs and caught 46 passes for 595 yards and six scores.

Pee is a finalist for the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A Back of the Year award.

Hokes Bluff senior quarterback Brad Robertson was named Offensive MVP after throwing for 1,549 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Defensive MVP was Glencoe senior defensive end Blake Christian, who finished with a county-best 11 sacks along with 72 tackles (17 of which went for a loss), two fumble recoveries and a safety.

Offensive Athlete Blake Devine, a Southside junior wingback, rushed for 739 yards and four touchdowns to go along with a team-high 26 receptions for 427 yards and three scores.

Defensive Athlete Dylan McKee, a senior from Hokes Bluff, made 87 tackles from his safety position.

Coach of the Year Marty Smith guided Southside to a 6-4 mark and finished a game out of the state playoffs. The Panthers’ six wins were the most for the program since 1993.
