Sardis wins area softball title

The Sardis High varsity softball team (27-14) defeated North Jackson, 7-4, in the championship game of the Class 4A, Area 13 softball tournament on May 3 in Sardis City. It was the program’s third consecutive area tournament title.
The Lady Lions will compete in the North Regional Tournament starting Thursday (May 11) in Huntsville. Sardis will face Madison Academy at 10:30 a.m.
In the area tournament title game, winning pitcher Kaylee Harraid struck out five while tossing a complete game. At the plate, Jade Bonds went 3-for-4; Hailey Hill went 2-for-3 with a triple and Bailey White went 2-for-3.
Carley Gardner was named Tournament MVP. She was joined by Harraid, Carly Sarratt and Whitney Feemster on the all-tournament team.
