The Southside High boys cross country team placed first and the girls team finished second at the last Saturday (Oct. 15) in Tuscaloosa.
The Panthers’ average time of 17:31 was 13 seconds faster than runner-up Springville.
Three SHS runners finished in the top 10, led by winner Evan Christopher with a time of 16:27.42 and runner-up Jackson Griggs (pictured above) at 16:39.85. Max Valentine took ninth place with a time of 17:38.56.
Finishing in the top 20 for Southside were Sanjay Wright in 14th place at 18:18.14, Hayden
Tucker in 16th place at 18:31.55, Bram Van Gils in 17th place at 18:35.50 and Matthew Battles in 20th place at 18:46.36.
Sarah Burger paced the Lady Panthers with a sixth-place time of 21:09.92. Mallory Tucker came in 11th place at 22:25.77, followed by Taylor Dortch in 12th place at 22:39.73, Marlee Tucker in 15th place at 22:56.94 and Zoie Menk in 17th place at 23:20.86.
