Southside wins, Glencoe loses in region contests

Alaric Williams rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries to lead Southside to a 42-14 victory over Class 6A, Region 7 opponent A.P. Brewer last Friday (Oct. 7) in Somerville.
Also for the Panthers (5-2, 2-2), Triston Shaw threw a pair of touchdown passes to Austin Winningham, while Baylon Fry rushed for a score.
Southside continues region play this week with a visit to Cullman.

Glencoe fell to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in Class 3A, Region 5 play after a 34-15 loss at Weaver last Friday (Oct. 7).
For the Yellow Jackets, Cole Holbrooks completed 3 of 11 passes for 106 yards. He also was the team’s leading rusher with 32 yards on 16 carries.
Austin Bush had 14 tackles, followed by Bradley Scott with 11 and Noah Huff and Aaron Bush with 10 each.
Glencoe travels to region rival Walter Wellborn this week.
