The GMC holds meeting

The Gadsden Music Club (GMC) met recently at the Gadsden First United Methodist Church for a Sacred Music Program. Benny McNair, organist at the First United Methodist Church, performed “Fanfare” by John Cook and “Toccata” by Boellman as well as some other arrangements. 

President Carol Larkins gave a review of the book Musical Legacy of 100 Years for the group. The meeting was adjourned with the singing of the National Federation Music Clubs’ benediction “The Gift of Song.” 

The Gadsden Music Club is a member of the Alabama and National Federations of Music Clubs. This year is the Gadsden Music Club’s 100th anniversary.

The organization was first formed in 1915. Members of the local community and the public are welcome to join the club in its yearlong celebration.
