Theatre of Gadsden to perform Anne of Green Gables for students

Registration for schools is now open for the Theatre of Gadsden’s performance of Anne of Green Gables.

The special showings for schools are October 5 and October 6, with two showings each day, one at 8:45 a.m. and one at 11:45 a.m.

The regular showing of the performance will be October 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and October 8 at 2 p.m.

All shows will be at the historic Ritz Theatre located at 310 North 27th Street in Gadsden.

Adapted from L.M. Montgomery’s novel of the same name and directed by Kelly Page, Sylvia Ashby’s Anne of Green Gables follows the story of feisty orphan Anne Shirley. Adopted from an orphanage in Nova Scotia by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, Anne Shirely’s acclimation to life in Avonlea is not exactly smooth sailing. The Cuthbert siblings wanted a quiet boy to help out around their farm, but instead they receive Anne, a redheaded, freckle-faced, free spirit who turns their lives upside down with her quirky behavior.

Tickets for adults cost $10, tickets for seniors, military members and students are $8.

Call 256-547-7469 for school reservations. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.theatreofgadsden.org.
