Westbrook Christian is facing a very familiar team, with one problem. The Indians have a new coach in Scott Martin and therefore are different from the past few years.

“Even though we’ve played them for the past four years, we only have one game film to go on,” Warriors coach Tony Osborne said. “They like to run the spread but run a lot of different formations. They can throw the ball but they prefer to run it.”

As for Westbrook, Osborne said that they are just “trying to get better.”

“We’re still working on the fundamentals,” he said. “We’re getting better every day.”

This week will open Class 3A, Region 6 play for both teams, so Osborne said both teams should be trying their best and not holding anything back.

“Sometimes in non-region games – especially early in the season – teams will try to hide certain things,” Osborne said. “But now that it counts, everything comes out of the hip pocket.”

Last week against Locust Fork, Wil Appleton was 15-of-29 in passing for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Tyler Pankey led in receiving with 79 yards and a score.
