Woman’s Club holds March meeting

 The Woman’s Club of Gadsden met March 24th at the Woman’s Club.

Martha Elrod, President, welcomed the members to the meeting and Lisa Thacker gave the devotional. 

Guest speaker weatherman James Spann of ABC 33/40 was introduced by Martha Elrod, President.  Mr. Spann spoke to the group about his work in the state and local community and encouraged members to look for ways to help others in our community whether it is financial or just emotional support.  His philosophy goes hand in hand with the Woman’s Club Creed. 

A nominating committee report for 2014-2015 officers was presented by Donna Wright, Chairman.  Officers for 2014-2015 were duly elected as presented.

Amber Phillip, Southern Tea Chairman, reported that Candy Hemphill Christmas will perform at the Southern Tea on Saturday, April 26. Tickets are available at the clubhouse, Freeman Motors, Absolute Fitness and Amber Phillip’s Interiors. 

Joy Ballenger, Red Cross director, was presented a check from the Woman’s Club along with individual member donations. Connie Grant was presented an award from the Mayor by Iva Nelson, City Clerk proclaiming March 25th and Connie Grant Day for his volunteer work improving the wheel chair accessibility to the clubhouse.
