Last year, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama redesigned the specialty license plate for the breast cancer awareness plate.

The tag line reads “ Funding Research… Saving Lives.

The plates are now available for cars, trucks and motorcycles.

All of the proceeds for the plate go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama funds cancer research at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.

According to the foundation website, the “research dollars allow the UAB CCC to successfully compete and receive sought-after and sustaining grant dollars, recruit and retain world-class breast cancer researchers and seize every opportunity for groundbreaking discovery.”

The specialty plate is available at the local DMV office, but may be available online as well.

Online or not, when you register there is an annual $50 specialty tag fee. Of the $50 fee, $41.25 goes to BCRFA. The $41.25 is a tax deductible donation. A one-time fee of $1.50 is also charged to transfer the tag to a specialty plate.

For more information about the foundation, go to www.bcrfa.org. To find out more about the specialty plates, visit the local DMV office.
