Hokes Bluff High girls head basketball coach Jason Shields gave his team credit for “playing smarter” on Monday (Nov. 30) in the Lady Eagles’ 67-19 win over cross-county rival Glencoe at HBHS.

“We made better decisions tonight and cut down on our mistakes,” Shields added. “We’re a young team with only two seniors, three juniors, five sophomores and one freshman.”

The Lady Yellow Jackets held a brief lead early on at 3-2 on a three-pointer by Breia Little. But a 24-0 run put the Lady Eagles up 26-3 and the hosts never looked back.

Hokes Bluff led at all quarter breaks at 13-3, 37-9 and 56-11.

Amanda Noah led Hokes Bluff with 17 points, followed by Logan Black with 12 and Margaret Wetzel with 11 points.

Lauren Cole scored six points for Glencoe, followed by Skylar Thompson with five.
