Glencoe placed four players in double figures on the way to a 50-38 victory over cross-county rival Hokes Bluff on Monday (Nov 30) at HBHS.
Glencoe head coach Jason Gilley was proud of his team’s effort to hold Hokes Bluff standout Kaden Moore to 18 points, including just two in the second half.
“That’s quite an effort,” said Gilley. “We had a lull in the second quarter, but when you’re patient, the shots will eventually start to fall.”
The Yellow Jackets (2-1) jumped to a 16-12 lead after one quarter before the Eagles fought back to lead 26-25 at the half.
Moore had all of the Eagles’ points in the first quarter with 12 and tallied 16 in the first half.
Glencoe rallied to take a 38-34 lead after three quarters and out-scored the Eagles 12-4 in the final period.
Cole Holbrooks finished with 14 points and five rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, while Pace Ozmint added 12 points and five rebounds.
Justin Barkley contributed 11 points and six rebounds, while Dalton Roberts chipped in 10 points.
“We did just what we needed to do to win,” said Gilley. “Coach (Jeff) Noah does a good job with his guys.”
