Chamber to host Chairwoman’s Gala

The Etowah /Gadsden Chamber will host its annual meeting and Chairwoman’s Gala on Friday,  January 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Gadsden Convention Hall.

The annual meeting is speakeasy-themed and will feature dinner catered by The Fish Market. Music will be provided by Ain’t Misbehavin’ – The Arnold Montgomery Band for attendees to dance to all night. The band  plays jazz music, which fits with the theme. 

The main purpose of the event is to honor the outgoing chair. This year’s outgoing chairwoman is Carver Boynton. Boynton is the general manager at the Gadsden Mall. She also works with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama board and United Way of Etowah County board. She received her bachelor’s degree from University of Alabama, her master’s degree from Faulkner University and a law degree from Birmingham School of Law. 

The event also serves to welcome new board members and officers. 

The new chairman will be Steve Hildebrant, the area manager of Alabama Power’s northeastern division.

Other 2016 officers include Jason Wilson, Chair Elect;

Wilbur Masters, Treasurer; and the Division Vice Chairs

which include Tim McCartney for workforce development, Amanda Jackson for education, Nanda Patel for economic prosperity and Kendall Lowe Hamilton for community stewardship.

The 2016 Etowah/Gadsden Chamber of Commerce board members are Jeff Goodwin, Greg Gregerson, Derrick Griffey, Amanda Jackson, Tena King, Tommy Lee, Gordon Linkous, B. Craig Lipscomb, Kendall Lowe Hamilton, Tim McCartney, Harry McLendon, Nanda Patel, Stephen Pennington, Wayne Rowe, Jan Rowe and Daniel A. Spencer.

The legal counsel includes R. Kent Henslee and Christie Knowles.

The outgoing board members whose term expired include Aaron Disouryavong, Walter Duminski, Charlie Hayes and Elizabeth Barnett.
