The Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus will host its annual rummage sale on Saturday, January 30 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Seton Hall of St. James Catholic Church located at 622 Chestnut Street in Gadsden.

The sale is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers. The money raised stays in Etowah County helping charities like Salvation Army, Thirteenth Place and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

“It’s huge. We fill up the hall,” said Peggy Ford, a Ladies Auxiliary member. “We have everything. It’s like a really good yard sale on steroids.”

The sale will be offering all types of items including furniture, clothes, household items, children’s toys, electronics, books and Christmas items.

“We have a lot of luck getting a lot of really nice things,” said Ford.

The items for sale are donated.

“This family brought three van-loads of toys, strollers, car seats,” said Ford. “They cleaned out their garage and they have three little girls. They brought a ton of stuff.”

Volunteers will arrive early at 6 a.m. to set up and coordinate the sale.

“We always have a ton of people there, lined up, when we open,” said Ford.

The Ladies Auxiliary is hosting another fundraiser on Saturday, February 13 at the Pitman Theater in Gadsden. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The event will be a dinner theater. The play will be Suspect Hollywood, a murder mystery. Entertainment will also include live music and a dinner provided by The Fisherman, a Southside restaurant located at 1873 Highway 77.

There will also be several Valentine’s Day giveaways for attendees.

Tickets for the dinner theater is $35 per person. All proceeds will go to charity.

The Ladies Auxiliary is the female component to the Knights of Columbus and was founded in 1998. Not every chapter of the Knights of Columbus has a Ladies Auxiliary.
