The Glencoe driver’s license office will close at end of day September 27 ahead of the office’s move to the Etowah County Courthouse.
The move will only take a few business days and the new office at 800 Forrest Avenue in Gadsden will open on Monday, October 2.
The Etowah County Commission approved a lease agreement with Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) in July of this year. For the space in the courthouse ALEA will pay an annual rent of $14,400.
The decision to move to the county courthouse was an easy one, as drivers have been able to do basic renewals in the probate judge’s office for quite some time. Drivers and soon-to-be drivers now will be able to take permit or license tests, obtain a Star ID and make changes to their license in suite 219 inside the courthouse.
