AHSAA releases winter sports realignment

Several local schools were affected by the Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control’s recent winter sports alignments for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years.
The classification alignments were set for the sports of boys and girls basketball, boys and girls indoor track, boys and girls wrestling and boys and girls bowling. Member schools are reclassified every two years.
The 2024-25 and 2025-26 basketball areas for schools in The Messenger’s coverage area are:
Class 1A, Area 11
Coosa Christian, Appalachian, Jefferson Christian, Ragland, Victory Christian
Class 2A, Area 12
West End, Susan Moore, Cleveland, Southeastern
Class 2A, Area 13
Gaston, Cedar Bluff, Pleasant Valley, Sand Rock
Class 3A, Area 12
Glencoe, Ohatchee, Piedmont, Westbrook Christian
Class 4A, Area 11
Etowah, Hokes Bluff, Ashville, Oneonta
Class 5A, Area 13
Boaz, Crossville, Douglas, Sardis
Class 6A, Area 14
Gadsden City, Southside, Fort Payne

The Coosa Christian, Ashville, Etowah and West End boys wresting teams will compete in Class 1A/4A Section 2.
The Gadsden City and Southside boys wrestling teams will compete in Class 6A, Section 2.
The Southside girls wrestling team will compete in Class 6A/7A Section 2.
The Westbrook Christian boys and girls indoor tracks teams will compete in Class 1A/3A Section 1.
The Ashville boys and girls indoor tracks teams will compete in Class 4A/5A Section 1.
The Gadsden City and Southside boys and girls indoor tracks teams will compete in Class 6A Section 1.
The Coosa Christian and Etowah boys and girls bowling teams boys and girls bowing teams will compete in Class 1A/5A Region 6.
The Gadsden City and Southside boys and girls bowling teams will compete in Class 6A/7A Region 7.
