Southside and Hokes Bluff faced off in a hard-fought football game

On Friday, Aug. 27, Southside and Hokes Bluff faced off in a hard-fought football game where Southside dominated and won 35-0.

At the beginning of the game, Hokes Bluff took the initial kickoff — but the offense stalled, and they were forced to punt. During the punt, Southside fumbled, giving Hokes Bluff the ball deep in Southside territory. The Southside defense held, and — rather than try a field goal attempt — Coach Robertson elected to go for it on 4th down. The pass attempt resulted in Southside intercepting the ball and returning the interception deep into Hokes Bluff territory. After that, Hokes Bluff never posed a serious scoring threat.

After the interception, Southside scored with 7:18 left in the first quarter off of a run by #21, Miles Rickles. They then proceeded to score a Point After Touchdown, giving Southside a 7-0 lead.

Southside scored again with 2:42 left in the 1st quarter, which put them at a 14-0 lead.

In the 2nd quarter, Southside scored yet again with 9:40 left on the clock, giving them a 21-0 lead that they would take into the locker room at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, Southside tacked on another score with 9:15 left to pull away 28-0.

With 25 seconds left on the clock in the 3rd quarter, Southside scored the last touchdown of the game, ending the night with a score of 35-0.
