The Etowah County Republican Party Executive Committee (ECRPExComm) met Monday, March 9 and voted to send the name of Lewis Fuller to Governor Bentley as the ECRPExComm’s choice to fill the unexpired term of Commissioner Kenny Tidmore on the Etowah County Commission who recently passed away.

Fuller was by far the top vote getter among the committee members, as he has been a member of the Republican Party for over 50 years and a member of the local ExComm, local steering committee and Fuller has served several terms on the State Republican Party ExComm. He was also elected as a member of the first Gadsden City Council in 1986 to represent District 7.

In other business the ECRPExComm voted to submit four names names to the governor for appointment to the City of Gadsden Civil Service Board which, technically, has three vacancies. Because the board must, by law, have a minority member, the committee voted to re-submit Jaurus Rawls for re-appointment and the remaining three names for filling the other two vacancies. These were businessman David Ford, retired electrical contractor and former member Craig Inzer and para-legal Lou Cinda Munroe.

Rawls was recommended for re-appointment as he has completed the unexpired term of Billy Billingsley, who was elected in August, 2015 to the Gadsden City Council. Gadsden Civil Service Board members Jack Roberts and chairwoman Marian Ford are stepping down after their current term expires.

All of these names have been respectfully transmitted to the governor’s appointment secretary for consideration.
